You don’t need to do anything. Just leave it to our smarter network; we’ll pick the right connection for you so you’re always getting the best experience.
Of course, you can still choose to connect manually to O2 Wifi whenever you’re in one of our hotspots by manually selecting O2 Wifi in your device’s settings.
And it's not just for O2 customers, our guest wifi is free for everyone, no matter who your mobile or home broadband contract's with.
As an O2 customer, you may automatically connect to wifi when you’re in range of one of our thousands of hotspots. You will need to be using a compatible device (with the latest software update) and have wifi switched on in your device. If you would like to know if your device is compatible please Contact Us. If the wifi connection is stronger than your 3G or 4G signal, and will give you a better overall network experience, then the device will automatically switch you to our wifi network.
When you connect to our wifi automatically you will notice the wifi signal appear on your device. Your device will show as connected to ‘Wifi Extra’. You are not able to connect manually to this service.
It’s easy. Don’t do anything. Just leave it to us. Our smarter network will automatically connect you to our wifi if the connection is stronger than the mobile network. Don’t try and manually select the ‘Wifi Extra’ network, its password protected and you won’t be able to connect manually.
You can’t choose to connect to the Wifi Extra network from your settings menu. We will automatically connect you when our wifi network is stronger than the mobile network signal. Our smart network is constantly monitoring this to ensure that you will always receive the best possible network experience.
If you want to manually connect to a wifi network, then O2 Wifi is still available. If you haven’t done so already, follow the simple steps when in a hotspot to register. Visit here for more details on how to register: Click Here
Customers who do not wish to use the service should disable wifi on their device.
